Participate in the development

Use Fake Omaha as a platform for your own ideas and passions. You'll help bring the city to life by adding detail, color and flavor. You'll also have a place to demonstrate what you're capable of. We'll help you integrate your ideas into the project. And of course, you'll receive full credit for your contributions.

So far, our participants have represented a variety of occupations:

  • Realtors
  • Urban planners
  • Graphic designers
  • Web developers
  • High school principals
  • Writers
  • Translators
  • Students
  • Transit schedulers
  • Cartographers
  • Artists
  • Photographers
  • Radio producers
  • Bicycle shop managers

Our participants all care about their work outside of the office. They believe in what they do, and they wish to play out their ideas free of the usual confines.

We're calling all people from all realms to make their mark. If you're a designer, a chef, an educator, a doctor, a police officer, a developer, a benefits administrator, a policymaker, a park ranger, a clergy, an architect, a painter, an engineer, an accountant, or virtually anything else – we have a place for you in Fake Omaha.

We are also attempting to strengthen the physical profile of Fake Omaha. We already have a detailed map. We'd love to add sketches, 3D depictions, and other simulations of the city's ground-level appearance.

Participation is open to non-professionals – students, activists, organizers, onlookers. We do require a practical, implementation-focused understanding of an issue. Contact us – we'll walk through your idea together to see if and how it may work in Fake Omaha. Then, expect to see your contributions woven into the story - and put on display at this website.

Keep in mind, Fake Omaha is a loosely structured effort. At the moment, there is no formal organization and there is definitely no funding. If you contribute your ideas, they remain your ideas and your property. We are not looking to advance our interests on the back of your work. If anything, we hope that our resources can help you advance your own potential.

Let's get started!
